Every Home Should Have Carbon Monoxide Gas Detectors
Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer because it cannot be seen, tasted, or smelled; therefore you don’t know there are high carbon monoxide fumes in your home until it is too late. This is why it is necessary to have gas detectors in your home. I still remember my mom’s home had a potbelly fireplace. We used to sit around the fire for warmth. My mom always told us that the chimney had to be checked often to make sure it was not blocked, because if it were we would all get carbon monoxide poisoning. I never gave her words of advice any thought until I read in the newspaper recently about some vagrants that broke into a vacant house. They closed the doors and windows and lit a big fire in a drum in the middle of the lounge area for the men, women, and children to sleep around for warmth… their bodies were found in the morning. I was desperately sad that these people died due to ignorance. Had there been gas detectors in the house, this tragedy might have been averted.
